The APDT Good Companion Awards are a rewarding and supportive way to help you build a strong, positive relationship with your dog while receiving recognised achievement for your progress. The course focuses on developing the teamwork, knowledge and practical skills that support a happy, lifelong partnership between you and your canine companion, encouraging responsible and informed dog guardianship.
The awards are designed to recognise both good guardianship and good canine behaviour, celebrating progress in a positive, encouraging way. Assessments are carried out by a current full member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT) UK, who follows the association’s professional code of practice, ensuring a fair and supportive experience throughout.
Exercises are assessed flexibly during your training course, so there is no pressure to perform on a single day. You may attempt each exercise as many times as needed within a six-week limit, and your assessor may ask questions during assessment to check understanding. Full details of the knowledge areas covered are provided in the Guardian Information Pack.
The Good Companion Awards are available at the following levels, allowing you and your dog to progress at a pace that suits you:

· Foundation
