As mentioned in previous blogs you may remember that over the last year I have been working on creating a dream team of businesses to provide the very best services for my clients. These include three independent pet shops, The Country Store in Collingham, The Barking Lot in Wetherby and Posh Paws in Harrogate who combined are friendly, customer driven and professional. The last word professional is what’s important for me, you see these businesses are easy to deal with, flexible, they are genuinely interested in their customers and respond to communication at a professional level. Not a lot to ask for you may say; however, you would be amazed how many canine related businesses I have dealt with recently who don’t even answer their emails or when they do, have not read them properly, so I have to email again to make myself clear L. Two different harness manufacturers in the last year required 3/4 emails and over a month before a reply (and a snooty one at that) needless to say these did not make the cut for the dream team. You see if they don’t treat me professionally how are they going to treat the hundreds of clients I teach each year? Just as bad is the answer. So, I continue building my time with professional likeminded businesses and luckily, I found another one in the shape of PPSS body armour based in Ripon, who have a very good protective sleeve range designed for human bites, but works nicely as added protection under a shirt, for when I am dealing with those dogs who are a little “over excitable”. They were professional, courteous and easy to deal with and I would highly recommend them.

August has been a month of preparations, first for our American visit in October, with all the tickets hotels and rental cars booked and I cannot wait to see our second family. It will be my birthday when I am there, which will make it extra special and apparently, I am going to a rock concert to celebrate J and hopefully a college football game. Further preparations have been put in place for a lead work master class at The Barking lot in Wetherby on 30th September from 3pm, where you can book (through Vicki) a time slot and I will spend time with you and your dog looking at improving your walks with your pooch. The unique selling point of this is you can then try different harnesses in the shop, have them professionally fitted and see if this improves your lead work further still. Its free, but you will have to reserve your time slot and this may be the start of a better walk for you and your dog!!!!
